P1010010.JPG (173487 bytes) This is just a slice of the fairgrounds but you can get the gist of it.  The swap meet area  is on the other side of the grandstand.  You can't even see it here but it's huge too.
Here's a shot from the grandstand.  That hill is bigger and steeper than it looks especially after walking all day.  They put the oddball stuff up there (trucks, XR4TIs, Tempos,  Pintos, etc.).  I know this yet for some reason I still climb it every year. P1010026.JPG (197625 bytes)
P1010027.JPG (185440 bytes) Here's a little bit of the swap meet.  There really isn't a good place to get a shot of the whole thing.  There are about 4 or 5 rows about 1/2 mile long.  When you go up and down each row and meander through through the booths it takes a full day to see it all.   The show field takes about the same.
From up on the hill. P1010035.JPG (194929 bytes)
P1010034.JPG (204357 bytes) 1963 1/2 Lightweight Galaxie.  There were about 25 of these under the tent and several more scattered about the show field.  There was a decent write up on these in the event brochure.  Too bad I had to burn mine to start a campfire.
Lots of vintage mustangs too see P1010018.JPG (195996 bytes)
P1010008.JPG (197437 bytes) And newer ones too.
Some Machs P1010016.JPG (198172 bytes)
P1010022.JPG (204147 bytes)  Some 71-73's were there.
Mustang IIs too. P1010028.JPG (206526 bytes)
P1010029.JPG (193584 bytes) It's not just Mustangs.  Here are some Fairlanes.
More Fairlanes???  I could have sworn I took pics of Galaxies, Falcons and Comets also but I guess not. P1010030.JPG (189323 bytes)
P1010031.JPG (205021 bytes) Edsels
Not much competition in this class. P1010032.JPG (201003 bytes)
P1010020.JPG (217864 bytes) Some interesting California Special facts
And here's the car mentioned on the card.  The small Mustang in the lower left had a sign that said it was a dealer promo item.  It looked like one of the Mustang Jr. go-carts to me. P1010021.JPG (211572 bytes)
P1010023.JPG (205517 bytes) This is the most heavily modified vintage Mustang I've seen.  I first thought it was a prototype for a future model year.  FYI, it's a '66.

Dyno testing.  The sound of engines turning high RPMs  is much cooler than '50s music filling the show field. P1010033.JPG (202233 bytes)
P1010037.JPG (192722 bytes) Some brightly colored and very expensive metal sitting out in the rain.
There were too many people milling around this one for me to get close and read what it was all about. P1010038.JPG (202314 bytes)
P1010005.JPG (195011 bytes) The next bunch of shots were taken at one of the indoor pavillions.  Everyone flocked inside when the rain came.
I enjoy this museum type stuff.  My apologies if it's not your cup of tea. P1010003.JPG (201326 bytes)
